Preparing for a Septic Evaluation

To help us perform your evaluation on the first appointment please consider the following:

• We must be able to access your septic tank. We need at least one septic tank cleanout tube available for any septic evaluation. If you are not able to locate this, please call us to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If we arrive for the appointment and are unable to locate your septic tank we will have to reschedule your test and charge you an additional $100 for the extra site visit.
• We must be able to access your leach system monitor tubes if your system has them. If you do not have any leach system monitor tubes or cannot locate them please let us know. We can still test your system using your septic tank but the procedure takes longer and requires significantly more water. If you have a low-flow well we may require water delivery to expedite the test.
• We must be able to access your well, if applicable. If you have a well we must measure the distances between it and any potential contamination sources. Please locate your well and arrange for our technician to be able to access it if it is inside the home.

For best testing results:

• Don’t use excessive water on the day of the test. If you have several loads of laundry to do please wait until the evaluations are complete to begin. In rare cases, the added water usage could result in an artificial failure of an otherwise functional leach field.
• Do NOT pump the septic tank before the test. We will notify you if the tank needs to be pumped.
